Kyle Douglas, LMFT
Kyle is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and co-owner of Moonrise. He received his master's degree in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Northern Colorado as well as his bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University.
Before heading back to school for his master's degree, he worked for several years as a preschool teacher. He developed a passion for early childhood development, which significantly influenced his desire to become a resource for children's mental health.
Fun facts: When he’s not working you'll likely find him with his wife up at Hughes Stadium throwing the frisbee for their fur-child, Nala. If there is snow on the ground he likes to get a few turns in on his snowboard. October is his favorite month of the year! It holds his favorite holiday and it provides an excuse to watch a scary movie or two.
Preferred Pronouns: he/him/his
Kyle’s Therapeutic Approach
Empowerment! It can be easy to approach therapy as a detective searching for all that is wrong in someones life. It is for this reason then, that I like to flip the script and pull out any and all client strengths because YOU are capable of greatness! The relationship built with clients is by far the most important aspect of therapy. Once a foundation of trust is secured, I take a humanistic approach when working through client issues. This means that I see myself as a fellow explorer who journeys with you rather than an expert who leads you. You are the expert on your life and I am simply here to use my skills and education to help you examine your experiences. It is my belief that you already have the innate ability to overcome any challenges you face and that my job is to help you utilize this ability to reach your maximum potential.
